Billy Ingleton has obtained a garish van containing a small fairground organ that does not work well, but the women want to use it for the Huttersfield Fair, in twenty-four hours. Tom Simmonite plans to do his ventriloquist act for the Fair with Marina assisting, which upsets Howard.

Record seeking, Alvin Smedley para-sails into the villagers lives. Truly, Norman and Billy tell Alvin a fantastic tale of a fearsome "cat creature" that stalks the woodland. Tom intends to fix Smiler up with a widow. Glenda panics as she has invited her mother to tea.

The episode that introduces Entwhistle, a cross-cultural character. It looks like the bill collector has finally caught up with Tom, but its Truly & Clegg to the rescue. Elsewhere, Howard finds himself inspired by a book to change his life - and falling into Billy's world! Evie is reminded of a fond childhood memory.

The men try to help Smiler find a squeak in his hand cart. Barry gets drunk. Marina buys a camouflage net.

It's Clegg's birthday but he only wishes to have a simple lunch with his good friend Truly - no parties no fuss. So Truly & Clegg don their best suits for their lunch, and end up with an extra guest. Everyone else goes to a wedding but end up at the same restaurant as Clegg. Will here able to keep his secret?

Gavin Hinchcliffe says global climate change will bring on a new ice age so he's learning to ski by riding atop Miss Davenport's van while it's driven on the roads. She claims Gavin had promised to marry her, but he's backed out.

Goff Helliwell, a lifelong womanizer and one of Roz' former romantic relationships, out of sheer obstinacy has decided to die the next Tuesday. When Clegg, Truly and Billy enlist Marina to flirt with him, Goff decides against dying.

Billy Hardcastle says that history shows past many wars between Britain and France so he wants to recruit members for his Merry Men, like Robin Hood had led, to learn archery in order to be ready to fight a future French invasion.

Howard has a present waiting for him at Auntie Wainwrights. Barry has an ear problem. Billy, Norman and Truly go in search of a old school chum.

Truly must meet the new man in the Former Mrs. Truelove's life; Auntie Wainwright sets Tom and Smiler on a date with former showgirls.

A pushy blue-haired woman is pursuing Herbert Truelove.

Norman has been roped into performing a humorous monologue for the Christmas Concert. Pearl plans to force Howard to mime a recording of Nelson Eddy. Glenda plans to force Barry to perform as a magician. Billy wants to give an archery demonstration. Alvin is practicing as a one-man-band. Entwistle hypnotizes Smiler into knowing how to dance.
