Howard runs away from home to Norman's, after Pearl has already thrown him out.

Foggy thinks that he can start a business renting out off-road bicycles.

Auntie Wainwright launches an advertising campaign for her new costume department. Marina dumps Howard for a man in uniform. Howard threatens to hitchhike to France and join the Foreign Legion.

Pearl impounds Howard's bicycle. Foggy, Norman and Compo conspire to get it back, failing that, finding him a secret bicycle.

Foggy, Norman and Compo meet a smarmy hustler trying to sell them a story (and a map) of pirate treasure in West Yorkshire. Howard dug hidden sniper trenches all over the area so that he and Marina can safely be alone.

Compo reminisces about the love of his life - well at least from his primary education years. He tries to find her with help from Norman and Foggy because he is getting nowhere with Nora Batty.

Foggy, Norman and Compo meet an odd bloke looking for magnetic emanations with his weird invention. Pearl gives herself an astounding makeover to look more like Marina and forces Howard to take her out for a walk around the village.

Foggy and Norman think that Compo has lost his mind because he sees a floating fat lady. Glenda tries to convince her mother, Edie, to get new glasses.

A disguised Wesley sneaks into Auntie Wainwright's junkyard to find parts for his latest hush, hush creation. Foggy, Norman and Compo attempt to sneak a peek at the shrouded project. Edie, upset by all the secrecy, hunts down Wesley with the ladies of the morning coffee group in tow.

Compo goes into shock when he catches Nora Batty in a church hall closet with Billy Chiselhurst. When he recovers his senses, Compo, egged on by Foggy, challenges Billy to a duel at dawn.

A depressed Howard tries to build himself up but, under Foggy's instruction, ends up breaking his leg. Auntie Wainwright has Smiler testing a Triumph Motorcycle, after she rents him the riding gear. Foggy intends to sneak Marina past Pearl and into Norman's house so that Howard can come over to see her. Meanwhile, the ladies morning coffee group plan to give Howard a surprise visit that same evening to cheer him up during his recovery.

A film company arrives to shoot "Circus Of Horrors". The actors, in full costume and horror makeup, are disappointed that the villagers hardly notice that they are there. Pearl plants a transmitter on Howard's bicycle and then takes the ladies out to hunt him down. To keep locals out of the way, the film company hires a few of them as extras. Barry goes to Auntie Wainwright for Glenda's birthday present.
