A brand new series begins with guests including Bette Midler, Rory Bremner and Robson and Jerome.

Des's guests include Cher, Lily Savage, Joe Pasquale and Eternal.

Des is joined by Shirley Bassey, Jimmy Tarbuck, Angus Deayton, Julian Bliss, Frank Bruno and Acker Bilk. Also appearing is the megagroup The Childliners with their charity single "The Gift of Christmas".

Des's guests are Brian Conley, José Carreras, Mystic Meg, Wet Wet Wet and fictitious Australian chat show host "Bob Downe".

Des is joined by Dusty Springfield, who performs two new songs, and, in a more serious moment for the show, reflects upon her mortality, having recently had cancer. Also appearing are Bob Monkhouse, Michael Flatley and Ace of Base.

With guests Diana Ross, Eric Sykes and East 17.

Bette Midler drops in to see Des again, while also on the show are Darren Day, Mike and the Mechanics and The Lighthouse Family. Plus, Des gets to contend with Australian megastar Dame Edna Everage.

The last episode in the 19th series sees veterans Status Quo and the Beach Boys join the show. Other music is provided by Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey and Lighthouse Family, while chatting with Des are Ted Danson, Lee Evans and Jenny Eclair.

A special edition that features what Take That claim will be their final TV performance. However, they still have time to ask Des for his autograph, and Jason really wants his tie. Among the other guests are Bob Hoskins and Tina Turner.
