Des begins a new series with a variety of guests, including welcoming back Jim Davidson and Jeannine Burnier to the show.

With Des ill for the week, his regular show is replaced with a highlights package of previous episodes.

Des's guests include Julia McKenzie, Mireille Mathieu and Freddie Starr.

Des talks to Ernie Wise about the secret of his long-lasting marriage, and his partnership with Eric Morecambe, who passed away in April. Des also asks Bob Hope via satellite if he's still "active". Among the other guests is Bruce Forsyth.

In a more serious interview than usual for the show, Lena Zavaroni discusses her battle with anorexia, as well as performing "Memory" from Cats. Also appearing are Michael Aspel, Eamonn Andrews, Mickey Marvin and The Everly Brothers.

After being kept off air by the Thames TV strike, Des returns with guests including Jack Jones.

In an episode delayed by a Thames strike, Des chats to guests including Ted Rogers, Jill Gascoine, Matt Monro and the Tremeloes.

The new Miss World, Astrid Herrera, comes onto the show to chat with Des, while among his other guests is Elaine Paige.

With Ken Dodd, Karen Kay, Charlie Daze, June Whitfield and Bananarama.

Des's guests include the married couple Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, along with comedian Norman Collier. Also on the show are Jess Conrad and the group Matt Bianco.

Guests include Richard Clayderman, Millicent Martin, Bob Anderson and Mick Miller.

Des gets to serenade the viewers in what is both a Christmas Special and the end of the eighth series. Joining him on the show are guests including Mireille Mathieu, Chas 'n' Dave, Russell Grant and Shakin' Stevens.
