Des celebrates not just a new series, but 25 years of appearing on primetime TV. To help him celebrate, Freddie Starr checks his material is IBA-friendly, while also appearing are Harry Enfield, Sarah Brightman, Dan Hankins and One 2 Many.

Des's guests include Petula Clark, Donny Osmond, Elizabeth Dawn and Johnny More.

Des is thrilled when he gets to perform a song he believes he was instrumental in making a global hit - a duet of "The Power of Love" with Jennifer Rush. Also included on the show are Spike Milligan, Status Quo and Adam Faith.

With Les Dennis, Julio Iglesias, Five Star and child violinist Leila Josefowicz.

After asking Tiffany if she'll ever get into acting, Des duets with her and asks her to imagine that he's 22. Tiffany confesses that imagining Des is 22 could be her big break into acting. Included among the other guests is Paul Nicholas.

Des's guests include Richard Clayderman, Jenny Seagrove and Rita Rudner.

Ken Dodd pokes fun at his recent legal troubles, while Zsa Zsa Gabor talks so much it's reported in the newspapers that the full show overran by half an hour. Also appearing are Cliff Richard, Kim Wilde and the Great Soprendo.

Des hosts a Christmas edition, with a shy Gorden Kaye talking about the success of "'Allo. 'Allo!" and confessing to being so anxious that he's "sweating like a pig". Among less nervous guests are Englebert Humperdinck and Chris De Burgh.

Des O'Connor Tonight reaches its highest chart position for the ITV shows as Tony Curtis, Kylie and Jason, Vince Hill, Bernadine Corrigan and Londonbeat make up the show.
