A new series sees Shirley Bassey discussing losing her voice after her daughter's death, but also lighter moments, like the time she and Des dated, telling Des's (much younger) wife not to worry, as it when it happened "You weren't born."

Guests include Kylie Minogue and Neil Sedaka.

Des introduces Mariah Carey singing her new track "Love Takes Time", while also on the show are Julio Iglesias, Derek Jameson, Mike Osman and the Roly Polys.

Freddie Starr tells Des that he's planning to quit showbusiness and has already found his replacement - a chimpanzee. Among the other guests is Gary Lineker, but Freddie insists on doing the hoovering while Gary is on.

With Mike Yarwood, Bea Arthur and Craig McLachlan, plus a man who would go on to be a Des regular for the rest of the run - Cornish comedian Jethro.

Des suffers anxious moments behind the scenes as star guest Whitney Houston gets ready to leave when she can't go on first. The segment is eventually pre-recorded and the show put together as a patchwork in the editing suite.

Featuring Jimmy Tarbuck, Marti Caine, Corbin Bernsen, SAW and Betty Boo, plus double act Punt and Dennis.

Des hosts a Christmas special, with guests including Bob Monkhouse, Jethro, Bernie Clifton and Robin Day. Des also performs a special song with the London Community Gospel Choir.

Des hosts his usual mix of music and laughter, with guests Russ Abbot, La Toya Jackson, Emma Samms and Lisa Maxwell.

Des ends the fourteenth series how it began - with Shirley Bassey as star guest. Also on the show are James Coburn, Bobby Davro, Billy Pearce and The London Boys.
