Seven boys who were hired by a rancher to help him get his cattle to market return to the ranch with the money from the sale. The widow assumes the boys will go back to their families. But they would rather stay on at the ranch. The widow decides to think it over. The man who was hired to be the cook on the drive takes away their guns which they used on the men who killed the rancher. Later some men show up and demand the money the boys brought back, they take one of them hostage. The others wonder what are they going to do without guns but that's when one of them ...

A handsome and engaging drifter Carl Rivers shows up at the ranch charming everyone but Cimarron. A double homicide has occured and the evidence begins to point to the newcomer but most valuable of the cowpokes believe him innocent.

The calvary is getting rid of it's older horses and the boys go to take a look. Weedy sees one of the the animals and is convinced that it is one of his father's mounts. Weedy tries to buy it but it but finds obstacles in his way.

Nightlinger's past in Mississippi puts his life in danger. His testimony put a man in prison for barn burning and now freed, the man comes to get revenge. The boys vow to protect their friend.

A destitute Hispanic family is accused of horse stealing and the boys decide to prove their innocence. They used an apple stealing horse named Pickpocket to catches the actual thieves.
