A year after his Bordeaux detectives team was disbanded having a serial killer exposed, French national police captain Martin Bernier arrives in a mountainous village near the sea. As accidental near-witness of a fatal shooting, he rescues a baby from a car on a cliff and meet competent lieutenant Lucas Auriol, who has no idea Bernier may postulate to become his beheaded's team new boss. The case involves the victim's presumed infidelity to his heiress wife, whose family's company he planned to leave, and her brother, as well as all the baby's surprising lineage ...

Martin Bernier's first case as captain in charge at Alpes Maritimes is a call from a woman who is locked up in a car, but when it's traced, the team quickly finds the senior female corpse in the trunk didn't call, unlike her missing younger companion. The case quickly complicates, with blackmail, queer infidelity and foster placement debacle. Meanwhile Lucas gets DNA conformation he's baby Elliot's father, bonds with him but still feels utterly inept fro fatherhood, while confident Martin claims his concern alone suggests the contrary.

Leslie Sorel, 17, flirts with Raphaël Costello at a beach bar. When he tries to force her, she flees through one of his house windows. Meanwhile, a driver tries to restart his vehicle again unsuccessfully and the body of a gendarme falls on his roof from an elevated street. Leslie peeks over the wall above the scene and scapes. A young couple, fans of actress Magali Portier, visit the abandoned castle where her first film, "The Blood of Bluebeard", which launched her to stardom, was shot. In one of the rooms, recreating the end of the film, three bodies hanged by the neck: two of them, mannequins, but the third is Magali's corpse, dead to a blow to the temple. Magali, 30, single, no children, returned to the region two months ago unexpectedly. Her sister, Laëtitia Darnal, and her husband run the village bakery. Magali had given up acting, for she received no new offers, but kept a new script...

Commandant Angelie attends the presentation of the new products of Huiles Alfonsi at the family house. Vincent Farnese, CEO, tries to convince her and friend Léo Grasset to press their olives at Alfonsi's olive mill. Shortly after, Farnese tells girlfriend Catherine Alfonsi, he must leave to see his sick mother. Three hours later, Pascal Mergault, friend of Farnese's, returns home and finds his corpse. Nadia states he was tortured and then shot with his own gun at close range twice, one of them in the heart. A young waitress becomes the main suspect.

Matthias Wagner escapes from prison in a laundry van. Next day two hikers find his corpse in a skip near Mouans-Sartoux. Although MO suggests the mafia, Procureur Calvi reports Wagner was a businessman who was sentenced 8 years for killing his business partner, apparently in self-defence, and was to be released in 15 days, for good behavior. Wagner's cellmate turns out to be Stéphane Leusieur alias Marco, a former TCI colleague in Bordeaux.

Ready to attend a simulation of an intervention against terrorists by the army's special forces with her friend Sabine Carsenac, Cécile Duchamp, 38, specialist in sports medicine, receives a call from an ex to whom she insists their relationship is over. During the simulation, an unexpected shootout with real bullets mixed with blanks causes casualties and Colonel Pierre Carsenac asks to stop the fire. Sabine draws her husband's attention when she discovers that Cécile has been also wounded by a gunshot to the forehead. The SR fears that her death was not accidental.

Nina Renoir, a young university physics professor, says goodbye to her students and goes to a hotel in Cannes, where she changes her clothes and starts working as a cleaning lady. His lifeless body is found in one of the rooms hours later. The SR discovers that Nina had left her job in a research laboratory for a month to be in the hotel. A famous actress and a rival investigator in Physics are some of the guests in the hotel that might be related to the case.
