The premiere episode introduces Ashley, the new student who just lost her dad, Dylan, a soccer player who might lose his spot in the team because of bad grades, and Jermaine who would love to be in the soccer team too.

When the homecoming dance approaches, Naomi is determined to go with Jermaine to the dance, no matter he wants or not. Meanwhile, Ash accepts Mike Jr.'s invitation when Dylan doesn't want to go to the dance, which causes a conflict between the brothers.

Ashley feels distrusted when Emily becomes overly protective and begins setting up too many rules. Andre attempts to mediate the situation when communication between mother and daughter becomes more about pager messages and less about conversations.

Dylan and Ashley start an online dating website but it backfires when items on their match-making questionnaire pertaining to weight, race, and sex offend other students. Jermaine has to tell Naomi that he just isn't interested in her romantically.

Dylan and Jermaine convince Ashley to go to Naomi's annual party, but Ash is concerned about a lack of parental supervision. The party is over when a student shoots a gun into the crowd, and Dylan is the only witness who can identify the thug.

Ashley dares Dylan to join her drinking, resulting the duo getting sick in public. The repercussions continue the next day when the two deal with hangovers and upset parents. At the Jermaine, feeling left out, questions his friendship with Dylan.

Ashley devises a way for Dylan to study for a history exam that incorporates his knowledge of sports; despite being prepared for the test he fails. Tired of always just getting by in school, Dylan begins to worry about what he will do with his life.

Ashley (Erika Thormahlen) tries to deny her jealously when Dylan (Brian Skala) begins giving more of his time and attention to an attractive female skateboarder. Meanwhile, Ashley attempts to help an annoyed Naomi (Fiona Scott) face her eating disorder. Shedrack Anderson III and John Adams also star.

Fake ID's from Hunter cause some trouble: Jermaine uses the ID to get a tattoo though his mom doesn't want him to. But when the skin gets infected, his mom finds out the truth anyway. Naomi and Ash fail to get into a nightclub with their fake IDs.

Dylan gets his learner's permit and begins taking driving lessons from his dad. Meanwhile, time is running out for Jermaine's rocket project for school. When he runs out of fuel, Dylan drives his brother's car across town without permission.

Dylan and Jermaine pay Ashley to go to the mall during school hours in order to get an autographed CD from the hottest local band, Flip Nixon. Naomi tags along in order to spend bonding time with Ash, but soon ditches her for a cute guy.

Ashley (Erika Thormahlen) organizes a car and pet wash to benefit a a local animal shelter and learns the difference between being bossy and being a leader. Meanwhile, Dylan (Brian Skala) has guilty feelings about choosing to compete in a prestigious skateboarding competition instead of helping Ash with her charity event. Shedrack Anderson III, John Adams and Alison Matthews also star.

Pena uses his counseling sessions with the students as material for his thesis which causes everyone anxiety. Dylan (Brian Skala) is especially concerned that Ash (Erika Thornmahlen) will discover his true feelings for her, ruining their friendship.
