Recent college grad Neil Barash is lost in life. His dad gets him a job at his office. Then he meets wild, party-girl Alicia.

Neil cannot stop dreaming about Alicia. She's also taken with him but she holds off sleeping with him because he's special.

Neil gets set up by his mother with high school hottie Lauren Benjamin (Jill Hennessy).

Alicia's dead boyfriend's twin moves in with her.

Alicia's former lover threatens Neil.

Alicia turns into a suburban housewife as the Barash family gathers for a dinner.

Neil's awkward cousin Leslie Barash comes to visit. She is completely taken with Alicia and tries to emulate her free-spirited ways.

Alicia's ex-lover Jonathan (Thomas Haden Church) reveals that he's getting married. She dismisses it out of hand.

Alicia's giggling when she tries to get intimate with Neil becomes problematic, so they seek the aid of therapist Dr. Solomon, who gives the couple some unorthodox advice.

Alicia becomes a success as a fashion designer.

Alicia becomes jealous accusing Neil of flirting with the Hochman Fudge Girl.

Alicia's dad (Peter Boyle) comes for a visit. He was often absent at a secret job and he would have to kill you if he told you about it.

Ted's presentation goes horribly wrong. He's down with no friends. To Neil and Alicia's dismay, he starts dating Megan. He stops brown-nosing and gets himself fired. The change concerns Alicia.

Neil is tired of his job. He considers quitting despite the constant fear of failure but then he gets laid off as the last man hired.

Unemployed Neil has no prospects except a faint dream of making movies. He stumbles upon a guerrilla film shoot and eagerly joins in.

Neil is tired of living with his parents. Alicia reluctantly agrees to let him move in but it could be too much for her.

Director Dennis Lake puts Neil in charge of publicity and into a roach costume. He runs into high school rival Brad Schimmel bragging about his job and fiancee Amy (Lisa Kudrow). Neil invites them to dinner to show off Alicia.

Megan loses her hand modeling job when Alicia's beauty inspires the owner to change his product line. Neil tries to help by getting Dennis to hire embittered Megan. She takes revenge by writing a fictionalized villainous Alicia.

Dennis Lake is making a sequel to The Bride of Marsh Man and needs Alicia to reprise her role. Alicia is willing to overlook her hatred of Dennis only if Neil is allowed to direct. Dennis talks Neil's father into investing in the film.

Alicia's dad (Peter Boyle) is back claiming to be out of the life. He is getting married to Polly but she's more domestic than Alicia expected.

Alicia wants to throw a surprise birthday party for Neil but he doesn't want it. She invites all of his old school friends. He reconnects with best friend Gerald which leaves Alicia feeling like a third wheel.

Neil finds Alicia's diary. He reads that she has to end their relationship. During their 197 days anniversary party, they break up after a fight. Some time later, Alicia runs into Neil who is set to marry another woman.
