In 1992, Sylvia Landry, the rowdy ring leader of Baton Rouge's top escort service found herself under investigation by state and federal authorities.

In 1995, a beautiful rocket scientist-turned-stripper, Suzette McClure, killed her womanizing record promoter boyfriend, Charlie Minor, after finding him in bed with another woman.

In 1997, a lover's quarrel between officers Linda Brown and Kevin Cummings erupted gunfire, and Cummings ended up dead.

In 1977, TK Harty was found shot to death in the office in his pub after he had served John Mooney, a business man in Harty's complex, with eviction papers.

In 1988, Berkeley's most radical city waterfront commissioner, Enrique Zambrano, was accused of savagely beating neighbor and friend, Berkeley professor Robert Mishell and is wife/lab assistant Barbara. When fellow waterfront commissioner Luis Reyna went to the police with incriminating information against Zambrano, Reyna was found dead only a week later.

In 1996, shortly before taking office as county prosecutor, Paul Gains, a vocally anti-mafia politician, was shot in his home by an intruder, and an investigation led the police to the link between Gains' murder and the top gangster in town, Lenny Stollo.

In 1980, musician Stephen Harvey was found dead, beaten with a baseball bat, and Ray Bledsoe was blamed for the murder.
