In 1997, the body of Larry Streeter, a local building contractor, was found dead in the snow. After the police began looking for the murderer, they found that a local hero, Teddy Ernst, was behind the murder and led a dangerous secretive life.

In 1983, two bankers, Toby Thulin and Rudy Bluthe, were murdered on a secluded Minnesota farm. Their deaths, and the lives of their troubled killers, Jim and Steve Jenkins, shocked the small town of Ruthton and became a disputed national symbol for the farm crisis of the early 1980's.

In 1979, Michael Nathan and Paul Bermanzohn attended a Worker's Party rally against the Ku Klux Klan. The Klan arrived and started a shooting spree that wounded Bermanzohn and killed several, including Nathan. This led to an examination of the community and their relationship with the Klan.

In 1995, Madalyn Murray O'Hair, the most hated woman in America for her views against the Bible, disappeared along with her two children. Her office manager, David Waters, admitted to killing them because of her suspicion of Waters for stealing money from the office.

In 1992, Yvonne Martins' body was found on the side of the road while her husband Kenneth Mathison, a policeman, told a story of hitting her accidentally. The community didn't buy his story and demanded an investigation.

In 1980, Bill Pogue and Conley Elm, two game wardens investigating a rogue camper, Claude Dallas, were shot dead. After the police sparked an investigation, they centered in on Dallas.

In 1980, cosmetics magnate and millionaire Dean Milo was found dead in his mansion. The investigation eventually led police to a hitman and Dean's own brother, Fred.

In 1991, Diane Newton, a local morning television show host, was attacked and shot in her driveway by her husband, Bradford King.

In 1988, Kenneth Griffin, Earl Smock, and Richard Mason were shot in their heads by Frank Casteel while they were going out in their ATVs.

In 1988, Bette Lucas took a fatal fall while she was walking up the stairs with her son, Steve. The police focused on Steven when they found out about Bette's will and Steven's shady business practices.

In 1981, Rolf Nesland mysteriously disappeared. His wife Ruth said he went to Norway, but there weren't any records of his arrival which led police to Ruth and the Nesland's turbulent relationship.

In 1998, Sandy Maloney was found dead on her couch from an apparent accidental fire. The investigation would reveal that she died from strangulation and her husband John was the prime suspect.

In 1974, the entire DeFeo family was brutally murdered in their home as they slept. The only living DeFeo, Ronald Jr., was convicted of the crime that turned one Amityville house into the setting of a blockbuster movie.

The case covered a murder in the wealthy resort town of Aspen, Colorado.

In 1979, Judge Jon Wood was murdered by a single shot from a high-powered weapon. Jimmy Chagra, a well-known drug lord, was the one responsible for setting the murder up, but Charles Harrelson, the man who pulled the trigger, was sentenced for the murder.
