Bill Monroe - The Father of Bluegrass - orphaned at age 11, raised by his uncle, fiddler Pendleton Vandiver. Learning the fiddle from his mother and taught further by his uncle, began playing dances with uncle and brothers.

Skeeter Davis, born Mary Frances Penick, was an American country music singer who sang crossover pop music songs including 1962's "The End of the World".

The Louvin Brothers were an American musical duo composed of brothers Ira and Charlie Louvin (Lonnie Loudermilk 1924 - 1965) and Charlie Elzer Loudermilk (1927- 2011).

Pioneer country performers. Married in 1937. Kitty Welles, born Muriel Ellen Deason, began her career in 1934 as part of the Deason Sisters. Johnnie Robert Wright Jr spent much of his career with Jack Anglin as Johnnie and Jack.
