Nine days before an attack hits Copenhagen, eight strangers go about their lives. Couple Morten and Camilla celebrate their wedding anniversary, but the celebration is cut short when their son Albert is hospitalised with a drug overdose.

The Danish intelligence service PET briefs Elisabeth; the bag found near the asylum centre contained ammunitions and weapons, but for selfish reasons Elisabeth doesn't want to inform the press. Jamal is sued for unpaid speeding tickets.

News of the discovery of the automatic weapons at the asylum centre have reached the media, and Elisabeth is forced to withdraw her bill. Consequently, she decides to step down as the Minister of Justice, which pleases her wife greatly.

A potential terror threat puts Elisabeth in a dilemma that may have dire consequences for both the general population and her private life. She seeks out Fashad's advice while other powers within her party appear.

It's the day of the opening of Nikolaj's restaurant, but illness among his staff poses a threat. Nikolaj persuades Louise to work, which spoils her plans for Marie's birthday. Jamal is tested when he agrees to pick up a parcel for Alban.

The terror attack is all over the news, and a paranoid Jamal tries to erase all trace of the job he did for Alban. At the morgue, Elisabeth breaks down at the sight of her dead wife, but the Minister of Justice must carry on working.

PET has a break in the case, and Elisabeth opts for new, risky measures in the hunt for the perpetrators. Jamal, who has become a prime suspect, flees his home and looks up Alban for help.

One week after the attack, Jamal is gaoled as prime suspect. Elisabeth, having gained the upper hand in the politics, uses her powerful position to pay Jamal a visit, looking for answers. Nikolaj has another idea for a business concept.

An unexpected visit causes Ginger to feel guilty, and she decides to go to the police and tell them what she knows about the attack. Ginger's testimony clears Jamal and points at other suspects. Elisabeth's drastic measures are revealed.

The perpetrators behind the attack are caught. Louise is immensely relieved, but Marie has more important things on her mind. Morten doesn't care, and he is oblivious to the fact that his behaviour is starting to have fatal consequences.
