Harold Durvey works for the graveyard commission. Following a gas explosion he was forced to dig up several coffins immediately. However one coffin, used for a man named John Dylan, was filled with only sand.

Harry Glover befriends wealthy widow Louise Edmonds in a bid to gain access to her assets. When she disappears her nephew contacts Glover to query his relationship with her. Soon after he also vanishes and so do her possessions.

Maxine, co-owner of Henri's Beauty Saloon has been beset with a number accidents that is ruining their reputation. Mark Saber is called in to find out who is sabotaging the salon but soon realises this is a job for Judy.

Miss Emma Krol begs for Mark Saber's help. During World War Two, she worked as an undercover agent with Ernst Lomak, and now he has been murdered. She suspects it's an American who is connected to her boss Mr Hillyer.

Lacey, a theatre manager asks Mark Saber to act as a middleman and pay Ritchie Bonsell a £1,000 to leave the country. Bonsell, a former employee, has just served three years in jail for manslaughter. Next day, Lacey is found murdered.

Lawyer Mr Farrell was in charge of Mrs Wright's finances. She had been in hospital for two weeks and he is shocked she died. The police believe this is suicide but Farrell is concerned about her dying after her relatives had visited.
