Complications arise between the baby sitter, her father and Jeff.

Donna loses her wedding ring which is a family heirloom that's over 150 years old.

The dean wants Jeff to co-chair the "freshmen-sophomore get acquainted party at school"

Trouble ensues when Donna and Midge feud about a raffle ticket.

Jeff gets his parents to agree on his buying his own car. Thinking he knows about autos he ignores the advice of the dealer and Scotty, buying a car that immediately breaks down. Jeff learns a valuable lesson in humility.

Donna applies for a credit card at a department store and is denied. It turns out that the Stone's have never charged anything and thus have no credit history.

Alex Stone spearheads a petition to reinstate a retiring college professor.

Jeff gives his parents and Midge career aptitude tests with Donna's results giving her literary aspirations. But she finds her everyday routine does not lend itself to writing a bestseller.

Donna decides to fight city hall when the city tries to cut down a tree in front of her house.

After only getting excellent grades in high school Bill Dayton finds college a rough adjustment. Jeff and his parents try to help the agitated young man to have more realistic expectations.

Both the Stones and the Kelseys must deal with visitors at the same time. Alex's father and Midge's mother prove to be disruptive until the plan is hatched to have them spend time with each other.

Jeff and Scotty run into some unexpected competition at a sports car road rally.

Jeff's rock band plays at a local party, and a cute girl asks them if they've ever thought about making a record. They decide they should, and set out to get enough money to buy recording equipment. They decide to sell shares of stock in their "record company" to all the kids at school. Howevever, things don't turn out exactly as planned.

Jeff needs a summer job and decides being a camp counselor would be perfect. But he is required to recruit two campers to get the position and finds it difficult to find anybody willing to sign up.

A friend of the Stone family generously offers them the use of his lake house. Jeff sees an opportunity to gain popularity by using it for a fraternity party. Things quickly get out of hand and Jeff panics.

Jeff decides males are the superior sex and gets his friends to join him in proving that to the girls. Donna disapproves and enjoys seeing the young women make the boys see the errors of their ways, Jeff most of all.

Jeff's friends try to get him nominated for city council.

Donna and Alex attempt to assemble a "do it yourself" stereo kit.

Donna snd Alex believe Jeff is eloping with Bebe when they misread several conversations and events. Believing they are too young to marry they frantically try to stop the wedding from happening.

Being baseball fans the Stone family are excited when Willie Mays leaves four tickets to one of his games. The problem arises when Alex, Jeff, and Donna all invite a guest to join them.

A former boyfriend of Donna's arrives back in Hilldale, wealthy and accomplished, which leads Alex to wonder how well he has provided for his family.

Donna and Alex's attempts to narrow down their plans for a vacation are complicated by too many well-wishers with too many ideas as to where they should go.

Donna and Alex have attended many parties; they decide to spend some time at home, enjoying their children and each other. Alex asks Donna to make an excuse for an invitation on Friday. Donna calls to state they can not attend. Later that day Midge asks to go with the Stones to an Anniversary party, however, they were not invited. Donna tries, to find out why they were not invited.

Midge urges Donna and Alex to take a quiz concerning how exciting their life is. After finding out they are considered boring they embark on going out every night. They soon realize that leading a humdrum existence is what they want.

A former resident of the Stones' house visits and wants to buy the house. Alex sets an unreasonably high price thinking they won't want to buy. The husband accepts the price and complications ensue.

Jeff and Smitty have written a song that could be a big break for them if only someone big in the music business would sing it. Enter Leslie Gore, playing herself.
