The Tates' aristocratic image is hampered when a gruff man and his sister arrive claiming to be kin of the family.

Grandpa mistakes fake love letters to pep him up as a burning passion from Lavinia.

After losing the houseboat in a poker game, Uncle Lucius only adds to his problems when he tries to find a solution.

When Lavinia tries to take the Tarleton property the family finds a land grant indicating they own half the county, including Lavinia's property.

Mr. Whitt struggles to educate the river folk but learns it is they who can offer valuable knowledge.
