Mie, a young woman with loss of memory, is stuck in a mental hospital. She gets a visit from DI Wolkers who claims she's the key in a mysterious disappearance case. The visits of the inspector and her family very slowly awakens her memory. Everything seems to have started at a remote house in the woods. The more she remembers, the more she starts to distrust the people around her, but most of all herself. Are the new memories real or is it her imagination who tries to fill the gaps in her memory.

Inspector Wolkers continues his search for Thomas De Geest. He's convinced Mie and Thomas knew each other. Although Mie's memory is still full of holes, she starts to suspect Thomas stalks her. Psychiatrist Mommaerts, who treated Mie after her accident, does not agree with the harsh methods of the inspector. Mie starts to realize the forest and the forest-house have something to do with her being at the institute. She's not only worried about the forester she often saw, but also with the three-legged cat Houdini.

Pyromaniac Vronsky's intentions are not clear, but he starts to win Mie's trust. Inspector Wolkers confronts her with evidence she knew Thomas De Geest well. Mie keeps denying this, but she realizes Thomas sought contact with her. She also remembers how some strange events at the forest house brought tension with Benoit. Wolkers tries something new and takes Mie for a walk in the forest. He hopes it will refresh her memory.

Mie is convinced that the strange forces at the forest house start to influence her daughter. When she can't control Romy's behavior, she asks a medium for help. Benoit, who doesn't believe in this, has enough. Mie notices he's more distant. In the present she still denies her connection with Thomas De Geest. Wolkers starts to doubt Mie's memory problem. An MRI scan and a lie detector have to confirm his feeling. The result: it's time for both to lay their cards on the table.

Vronsky helps Mie and warns her for Bob the strange forester who haunts her nightmares. Mie shows her friend the mysterious letters she gets at the hospital. Is someone trying to help her? Wolkers continues his search in his own unusual manner. He convinces Mie to try to get new clues under hypnosis. In the past the family get ready for Halloween. Those dark days of the year escalate Mie's delusions. Lonely and confused she searches for the reason of Benoits cold behavior and discovers something awful.

Mie's awful discovery throws her life in the past totally upside down. She feels betrayed and finds comfort in the arms of Thomas De Geest. At the hospital her memories cause a heavy breakdown. In fear she might hurt herself, the doctors place her under special supervision. He hates it, but Wolkers has to take a step back. But psychiatrist Mommaerts digs deeper in Mie's past and has some news for her. Mie confronts her mother and husband with this new information. Does she have something terrible on her conscience?

Mie tells Mommaerts her recurring nightmares and asks herself if she has anything to do with the whole affair. When she receives more mysterious letters, Mie and Vronsky try to fit the pieces together. Mie thanks her friend with a special gift and warns him she doesn't trust Benoit anymore. Vronsky gets between a rock and a hard place when inspector Wolkers tries to get information from him. Mie starts to distrust everyone around her.

Mie discovers a long buried family secret. From fear to forget, she flees for a sandstorm and finds shelter in a shack. There she does a bloody discovery. In the present the chances of Wolkers finding Thomas alive, get very slim. A new testimony and a doubtful alibi bring Benoit back under Wolkers attention. Mie is surprised when finally Nikki visits her. Did she bring the truth? Mie can't distinguish fact from fiction at the institution anymore and hatches a plan for escape.

Mie is touched by what happened to Vronsky and waits anxious for news. The inspector has to go to his superior. Wolkers asks for 24 hours to confront Mie with forester Bob. The mysterious Bob awakes intense emotions within Mie. She convinces Wolkers to investigate the bloody shack in the forest. While Wolkers searches the forest thoroughly, Mie tries together with Mommaerts to plug the last black holes in her memory. The fate of the different people are coming together as one big apotheosis.
