Jerry Orbach gives a classic performance as a talk-show host closely modeled on Morton Downey Jr. -- a highly conservative, highly combative man who whips his audiences into frenzies (all pre-staged to attract viewers). The host actually has a smart, brave side which he tries hard to conceal -- but he saves Cecelia's life when both of them are menaced by a stalker. When a fight breaks out in the studio during a taping (exactly mirroring a fight on Geraldo Rivera's talk show the very day before this episode was broadcast) someone in the overhead lighting grid takes ...

The boys' police lieutenant friend falls for their client, a man with a secret.

A cocky teen delivers a letter to Rick stating that he is the boy's father. Taken with the lad, Rick helps save him from a Los Angeles thug.

AJ writes a play about a cold case that the Simons couldn't crack, but when an actor gets murdered, they reopen the investigation.

When AJ's wealthy college roommate drops dead of a heart attack during his anniversary party, the boys know something's amiss.

AJ finds himself in 1940's Los Angeles.

When the boys are hired to find out who is leaking confidential information and using it for insider trading, the trail leads them to their client's son. But before he could be confronted, he is killed. The suspect is the boy's friend and he is arrested. But at his hearing his lawyer, who is Cecilia's latest beau uses personal info on Rick to discredit him thus releasing the man. Rick and A.J. try to find another way to get him.

Against their better judgment, and policy, Rick and AJ take on the case of a political candidate who thinks his wife is having an affair. As they proceed with the case, the Simons uncover a conspiracy.

Lt. Marsh refers her friend Elise to Rick and AJ who wants to locate her old boyfriend before marrying her fiance Jeff. What should be an easy case takes a turn because the old flame Terry Adamson is a violent criminal.
