Former hostage negotiator Mara Kint, an expert on human behavior, takes a job saving people whose minds are lost in an advanced virtual-reality simulation, Reverie. In the process, Kint begins to work through a personal tragedy in her own past.

When a client becomes addicted to a "Jane Bond" adventure, Mara must help her assemble the missing pieces in her life to save her. At the same time, Mara deals with the unanticipated side effects of Reverie.

A family man robs banks in his Reverie and Mara (Sarah Shahi) must uncover the deeper reasons why. Mara's derealizations put her life in danger.

A stolen implant is sold to a man who can't leave his home but is planning a robbery.

Monica seeks help from the team after a bombing kills dozens of people; Mara dives into the mind of a coma victim to identify a perpetrator.

When Mara tries to save a young dancer whose recent tragedy has sent her spiraling into deep despair, the case leads her to a surprising reunion with the man she left when her life fell apart.

The team works together to save the life of a wrongly imprisoned boy; Mara is introduced to the dangerous world of dark reveries, where the normal rules don't apply.

Mara comes to the aid of an elderly woman who used Reverie to go back to her younger days when she fell in love. Mara assumes the woman wants to say goodbye to her boyfriend who died in Chile in 1973. But that was not the woman's goal.

Mara's personal tragedy finally comes to a head, and she considers whether she has a future with Onira-Tech.

The team must race against the clock when one of them is kidnapped, and Onira-Tech is at risk of being destroyed.
