Jan and Eva's baby arrives 2 months ahead of schedule. Eric thinks new intern Bas Straten looks very familiar. Lucy's father returns to stay from Saoudi Arabia. Suzanne takes a dislike to a sexist patient called Johan Spoor.

Patient Frits tries to keep his dog Joop in his room. Jan brings in the victim of a hit and run. He turns out to have caused it himself. Johan is released from hospital and manages to make a date with Ingrid to the annoyance of Suzanne.

Suzanne is awaiting trial for bashing Johan's head in when he tried to rape Ingrid. Her psychiatrist Vera Zomer tries to get proof Suzanne was the victim of incest when she was young. Bas hacks into the hospital computer and finds out Sonja is HIV positive, which she has been keeping secret.

Dirk wants to take Lucy to Rotterdam and confesses he has developed feelings from Reini. A young man lies about his former drinking habit because he needs a liver transplant. Pieter tells Suzanne he wants to start anew with her and will wait for her even if she has to go to jail

Paul & Merel return from Portugal because she feels her end is near. Tessa challenges Reini's authority by implementing new measures. Selma's pregnant friend Marjan is diagnosed with having a tumor in her breast. Nel is having trouble with Jaap and finds herself attracted to a patient who dreams of a career in music.

Paul vd Voort has been reinstated at MCW. Nel begins an affair with Robin. Tessa becomes attached to a suicidal man who is HIV positive.

Jaap has thrown Els out of their home and files for divorce. But Els is having second thoughts about Robin as well. Vera asks the terminally ill Johan to move in with her.

Andri Tolhuis refuses to be nursed by his son Guus and is tormented by memories of fighting in the KNIL. Maurice Alberts is asked to speak to the man about what happened in Indonesia. Eric loses his house in the divorce settlement and tries to follow Simon's lead on the stock market.

Ingrid has inherited all of Swartjes money, to the dismay of his nephew Sander Hertinga. Chronically ill Antoine Oomen wants to give up on his treatments. Nel finds out her old friend Monica is offering very special help to crippled patient Frans Verwoerden.

Albert Richter needs a bone marrow transplantation. His son Guido turns out to be incompatible, causing his mother Josephine to make a confession. Antoine goes into a depression during his latest treatment. His father offers to travel to America with him. Eric gets into more trouble when he agrees to help Putman with another money making scheme.

Barry Putman has kidnapped Elsje Kalkhoven for ransom and has made Eric Koning his accomplice. Marijke Rodenburg is carrying a baby for her sister Frederieke but is now having second thoughts. Daniël urges his dying mother to tell him who his father is. Reini accepts Dick's marriage proposal.

Sander offers Ingrid a job as a racing driver. Following his mothers funeral, Daniël tries to find paperwork indicating his father's name. Eric attempts to help Elsje escape from captivity.

Daniël finally finds out the identity of his father. Tessa is reunited with Johan Hofstede who has served his prison sentence for a failed bank robbery. Nels marriage to Jaap goes through another dip when she invites Robin to perform at Reini & Dick's wedding. Eric is now Putman's hostage together with Elsje.
