With the political situation much worsened followed by his brother's murder, Lorenzo is firm on risking everything to save his city which is excommunicated and family, which now includes his deceased brother's son Giulio.

After finding his city Florence threatened to fall into the grasp of his enemies anytime, and his family including his children not much shielded, Lorenzo makes an unforeseen decision.

In the midst of tyrannies in a foreign land, Lorenzo schemes to bend the circumstances his way to win his battle. Also being in a company of a former acquaintance, he battles the evoking forbidden affections to stay devoted to Clarice.

As Florence has been prospering for a while thanks to the magnificent's policies, Lorenzo now wishes to bring a permanent peace to promise a secured future of his family even if it takes him to let go of his virtuous believes he once had.

Witnessing the right opportunity to seize power for to survive, Lorenzo and Clarice embark on the journey where they would discover the darkest aspects of the pious papacy, when Lorenzo eventually obtains for what he has thrived so far.

After discovering a past mistake made by a family member, the Medici family faces yet another crisis for which Lorenzo must take maverick measures resulting in losing his virtues and ardent believers.

Lorenzo's ally turned adversary friar tries to bring the truth to Florentine people, a dark fact that will most likely destroy the support Lorenzo always had in his friends and his own wife Clarice, leading to an unforeseen tragedy.

Realizing his power nearly gone, Lorenzo plots something too vile, thus turning his son against him. However, a long lost family member reunites bringing some solace to the wounded Medici and making Lorenzo realize his true self.
