Komi Can't Communicate

On one cold morning, Komi wraps a scarf around her neck to keep warm, but as soon as she gets to school, Najimi plays a trick on her.

There's a typhoon blowing over Komi's neighbourhood. School has been cancelled, but Komi is still afraid of the thunder. Komi invites Onemine and Kaede for a cat cafe visit.

Hoping to understand their classmate Komi more so they can be friends with her, Nakanaka and Yamai decide to talk to Tadano.

On Christmas Eve, Komi panics when she reads a message from Najimi, challenging her to buy presents for all her friends. She brings Shousuke along. Later that day, everyone arrives at Komi's house, where they try to figure out where Komi will sit so they can sit next to her, and play the King Game.

Tadano and his friends engage in a snowball fight with a group of elementary school kids, who are joined by a reluctant Komi. Later, Komi and her family visit Yuiko's household for New Year's Eve, where Akira teaches Komi how to play hanafuda.

Katai gathers his courage to invite Tadano to an ice rink. When he goes to meet Tadano, he is shocked when he sees Komi came as well. Later, Tadano is confined to his bed after he comes down with a fever. He tries to call Najimi for help, but accidentally calls Komi instead.

Komi is nervous because she thought Najimi saw her holding hands with Tadano when they visited his house. Naruse wants to talk to Komi. Komi reveals her past to Tadano as the students are preparing for a class trip.

Komi arrives at the train station to meet with her friends. Kato and Sasaki, the two girls in her group, agree to make Komi's trip a memorable one. When class 1-1 arrives in Kyoto, they meet with their tour guide, Ryouko Tenjouin, who is quickly disheartened by the lack of interest from the class.

On the second day, Komi's group visits more places with her ending up making two more friends along the way.

Onemine invites Komi to her house to make chocolates for Valentine's Day. Alongside Otori and Onemine's younger siblings, she bakes a chocolate cake. At school, Komi receives chocolate from her friends and she gives the ones she made back. Katai manages to give his to Tadano, while Komi feels guilty for being unable to do so.

At school, Komi's friends thank her for the chocolate. However, she dreads facing Tadano when she recalls what happened. Akako Onigashima, normally friendly and energetic, periodically gets angry when things do not go her way. Amami Satou, a very sweet and calm girl, has trouble saying no to people. Komi and Tadano have a fight for the first time after they cannot agree on how to solve a shogi problem proposed by Katou.

Tadano thinks about what to give Komi for White Day. He asks Hitomi for help. At school, Komi and her classmates play Eraser War. After school, Komi and Tadano reflect on their approaching second year.
