This episode tells the story of the life of the patriot José Miguel Carrera, of whom Neruda said "he was the first one to bring Freedom to our land, without kings or tyrants". With his charisma and his determination he hurried the changes and converted Chile into an independent nation, but he also gained very powerful enemies who would persecute him until the end of his days. He is a president without a government.
