Leo learns about the Head Start program with Parks Canada Biologist, Julia. The program helps Blanding's turtles begin their lives in Rouge Urban National Park. By picking up on radio signals on their backs, turtles can be tracked. This helps create wetland habitats that sustain populations of the future.

Leo explores the eel-grass meadows in Pacific Rim National Park. The meadows are where many fish and crabs start out their life. With help from Jenn, a marine biologist at Parks Canada, Leo learns about how drone technology is used to monitor the meadows with a birds-eye view.

Leo learns about the Road to Recovery program in Bruce Peninsula National Park. The program protects endangered Blanding's Turtle populations. Katrina, a Parks Canada Resource Management Technician, shows Leo how nesting boxes can help give baby turtles a head start at life.

Leo learns how to be a citizen scientist with some help from Tim, the Fort Farley Habitat Recovery Program Manager. Citizen scientists work on behalf of the Fort Folly First Nation to protect Inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic Salmon, an important and endangered species.

In Fundy National Park, researchers Kurt and Becky teach Leo about how they keep track of Inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic Salmon. When salmon populations travel from the ocean into the river, tracking devices help keep track of this important and endangered population of salmon.

Leo heads to Georgian Bay Island National Park to learn about Phragmites, an invasive plant taking over our wetlands. Parks Canada Project Manager Laura shows Leo how mapping and tracking can help scientists impede the reed and protect the wetlands.
