Pol can't be bothered with Doortje's champagne dinner for their 'first kiss anniversary", he's gutted having failed to buy a ticket for the national team's Italian match. Fernand wins one accidentally, hears from Xavier and demands a robbery price from his cousin. Unromantic Mark's klutz damages get too much for Bieke, but Pascal convinces her to try a romantic evening, which goes as badly. Chased Mark enjoys helping Boma with Internet, especially on a dating site, where he and Bieke accidentally grow to a date.

Marc and Bieke move out of Pascale's house. They move to Fernand's antique shop and rent the loft above his shop.

Boma wants that Doortje participates in a 'Best Secretary of the Country' contest. Pol stimulates Doortje, but only because Boma promised him a season ticket at RSC Anderlecht if Doortje agrees.

Billie brings home another fine report-card, except fort a single failing grade: PE. While ma accepts the boy's explanation not to care for sports, dad Pol is determined to get him warmed up for one, which proves rather painful for himself, Xavier, Boma and Carmen in failing soccer, tennis and swimming introductions. Meanwhile Marc is pushed by mother-in-law to apply for a sales manager position, and painstakingly trained. Bieke objects to her ma's meddling on principle, but neither imagined what the job actually entails.

Pascale dares not tell Pol and Doortje they wreck her private life, nor the couple they're thinking of moving out, but Mark accidentally clears it all up. Pascale wants to hire a waitress, so a jury is formed with Boma, Carmen and Doortje. Pepole push their candidates, like Boma's bimbo Mimi, and Fernand counts on bribery -selling off Carmen's shop stock at the market, assisted disastrously by Marc- and blackmail to win the job himself.

Pascale and Doortje like their yoga teacher. As a result, they compete with each other. De Kampioenen participate in a survey. Fernand steals the surveys to pit De Kampioenen against each other.

Pol is collecting money so that he can take part in a professional football coaching class. Someone in town won the lottery. De Kampioenen think Boma won the lottery, as he bought a new sports car.

A group of Germans visits De Kampioenen. Fernand sabotages the pleasant gathering. Pol and Marc refuse to go to Paris with Doortje and Bieke. Pol tries to stay home in every way.

De Kampioenen are loss-making. They'll have to vouch for their own financial provision. Fernand tries to convince Pascale in turning the canteen into a pigeons locally.

Boma's mother forces him to hire his old cleaning lady back and Carmen is fired. She picks up on herself and becomes an executive assistant in a top tier company. Xavier wants to retire.

Oscar Crucke is an innkeeper besides coach of the underachieving enthusiasts' soccer team F.C. De Kampioenen from Emblem, Flanders. Oscar is married to Pascale De Backer, a snobbish woman who wants to move up in life. Oscar and Pascale have a teenage daughter Bieke. They rent their cafe Cafe De Kampioen from Balthazar Boma, the team's chairman who owns the sausage factory Bomaworst. Boma challenges his marriage. He shows interest in Pascale while asking the impossible from him as a coach. Oscar is defended and much respected by his players: they are very close despite obvious incompetence and occasional pranks. Forward Pico Coppens is a self-confident man and is the best player on the soccer team. Whatever that means. He's a politically active high school teacher in technical subjects who repairs TV sets as an extra income. Pico is married to soft hearted bookkeeper Doortje Van Hoeck. Doortje can restrain her husband at times, though. Pico's the best of friends with goalkeeper Xavier Waterslaeghers. Xavier, as a goalkeeper, serves as a weak link in the soccer team, aged 40+. He's an army corporal, later a sergeant, but is dictated the law by his wife, Boma's cleaning lady Carmen Vandormael. Carmen pulls the strings while Xavier falls short between the sheets. F.C. De Kampioenen is thwarted by stingy car dealer and mechanic Dimitri De Tremmerie. Dimitri is the neighbor of Oscar, Pascale and Bieke and is referred to by the initials of DDT. DDT is a typical anti-hero who swears every now and then and comes up with nefarious plans but who wouldn't hurt a fly. Dimitri loathes the team but as they collude, his plans to bully are then defused.
