A year after he was granted asylum in the El Rico embassy CIA whistle-blower is largely forgotten by the media and at odds with the ambassador's son Rafael, who, like the rest of the staff, despises Daniel. Then he is joined by another fugitive - crazy computer hacker Ludo Backslash whom Rafael has brought in to attract media attention and guests to the embassy ball. Rafael's plan succeeds but Daniel is not happy especially as Rafael's sister Rosa finds Ludo more attractive than him. MI6 and the CIA are anxious to flush Daniel and Ludo out of the embassy. MI6 boss Miranda Harris recruits screen-writer Alan to pose as an online seductress Catrina, enticing Daniel to elope with her whilst the CIA reveals that there is a mole in the embassy revealing Rosa and Rafael's guilty secrets. In the event neither ploy works as Daniel has second thoughts just as he is about to leave and the wrong person is ultimately accused of being the mole.

Daniel prepares to send his manifesto to the media but is dismayed to find they are more interested in salacious gossip his ex-wife has told a gutter press journalist so, as damage limitation, his solicitor Lorna arranges a press conference where, as a result of a misunderstanding, it is assumed that he has been tortured. A huge crowd gathers outside the embassy in sympathy with him but disperses on learning the truth. Ludo meanwhile resists the opportunity to vilify host nation Canada online to ensure that El Rico gets the World Cup, claiming that he has learnt ...
