When a daycare worker finds a pet microchip in baby food she goes to a journalist who begins an odyssey tracking down the chip's origin, which may have been in a horse that was part of an illegal scheme.

Johanna finds help for her investigation into the horse trade. Marianne is cornered into helping with the money laundering schemes. The Korvola children are trying to declare their father dead.

Johanna gets approval from her boss to continue her investigation. Anita Korvola ends up in the hospital, and Marianne is trying to figure out to deal with the threats made at the bank.

Marianne's horse trading scheme has begun. Johanna's investigation reveals that some big players are involved. Inkeri's life insurance investigation is ruffling some feathers, so the Korvalos' attorney is trying to derail it.

Marianne turns to her son, Jarkko, for help. Sini remembers an odd detail about the evening her father disappeared.

Jarkko blackmails Marianne after his help in establishing bank accounts for homeless drunks. The police ask the insurance investigator and the journalist to stop investigating which makes them work harder at it.
