In the two-hour season premier, Ellenor is called to the house of her close friend, Senator Keith Ellison, where she finds the dead body of a man in his bed. The senator claims to shooting the man, thinking he was raping his wife, not realizing they're actually having an affair. In a sensational trial, full of twists and turns, Helen and new ADA Alan Lowe try to prove the senator murdered the man in a fit of rage - but no one is ready for the real truth behind this crime.

Ellenor tries to deal with her discoveries after the Ellison trial, and is determined to correct the injustice that occurred. Rebecca joins forces with a highly respected death-row-appeals lawyer, and discovers he might have an agenda contrary to that of his clients. Eugene represents an old client in a parole hearing, trying to convince him to make a full admission even though he still maintains his innocence.

Lindsay represents a young man accused of murder, and is shocked when new ADA Alan Lowe makes an extremely questionable maneuver to nail her client. Jimmy represents a bookie, to whom he is in grave debts, in a very messy divorce, until it escalates to murder.

Bobby represents Jenny and Richard Baldwin against a pedophile about to be released from prison, who they believe kidnapped their son 18 years earlier. The couple wants Bobby to use a civil lawsuit to force him to tell them what happened to their son - a trial that ends with shocking results. Meanwhile, Jimmy is desperate to scrape up the money to pay his bookie, and ends up stealing from a client to do so.

With a young man coming forward, believing he might be the long lost Chad Baldwin, Bobby and Ellenor try to verify the boy's story. Helen tries to use the woman who raised him for all those years to lock Pierce away for the kidnapping, but Rebecca uncovers evidence that might change everything.

The firm is hired by an insurance company in the trial of a little boy who got hit by a car, until the company's doctor uncovers evidence the he suffers from an extremely life threatening condition. Everyone is horrified when the insurance company orders them not to reveal that to the boy's parents, putting his life in grave danger. Jimmy, however, refuses to comply with those orders, telling the boy's parents everything - and is shocked to discover Eugene has reported him to the bar, recommending his immediate disbarment.

Lindsay is assigned a case involving a mentally challenged man who was released from prison after DNA evidence exonerated him of the murder of his wife. The man is searching for his daughter, who believed that he murdered his wife, her mother. Ellenor is working on a gang killing case in which Alan Lowe is using unscrupulous tactics---so much so that he alienates Helen---in order to get the former-gang member's family to turn on him, tactics that endanger a suspect's family. The victim's family, however, sees Alan's gambit far differently.

Bobby afraid his feelings for a client may harm his objectivity; Lucy helps and supports an elderly rape victim to get an apology from her attacker.

An American woman married to an Arab-American hires Rebecca to find her husband, who was taken away by the FBI under what seems a precursor to the PATRIOT act. Eugene defends a black man on trial for raping a white woman.

A clergyman intercedes in the case of an accused killer, whose defense hinges on the credibility of a sole eyewitness; A prosecutor propositions Ellenor.

Bobby has a client that reveals privileged information that can be revealed by Bobby in the event the client dies. When the client does not show up for trial, Bobby makes an assumption that puts his client as the main suspect on a new case.

Ellenor is forced to second chair her client since he requested to defend himself. The DA thinks this is an easy win,but is warned by his boss that many Pro Se cases were lost by other DAs. The defendant underestimates the power of the jury.

Bobby and Helen are unwillingly dragged into a sting operation meant to expose a highly respected and popular judge of taking bribes. When he finally does get caught, the vengeful judge tries to take Bobby down with him.

A mental health patient believing he is Superman and even calls his wife Lois is sued for damages after he lands on op of a Man after he tries to fly without his cape. After doing research Jimmy finds there are other parties to blame.

Eugene defends a man accused of shaking his baby daughter into a coma. Ellenor once again faces A.D.A Mitchell Wheeler, with surprising results.

Bobby and Jimmy defend a client accused of killing his business partner, but when one of the witnesses ends up dead, things get a little more complicated. Meanwhile, Lindsay has a client who seems determined to want to go to prison.

An Italian American is accused of Insurance fraud, a convicted Arsonists comes forward to testify against Jimmy's client. As always truths and dilemmas arise, will the truth persevere this time?

Joey Herric returns to the firm, surprising everybody when he declares he has passed the bar, and is now a lawyer. He asks for Bobby and Ellenor's help in his first trial, a murder case, where he represents a man accused of killing a woman he was having an affair with. As the trial progresses, they become frustrated when Joey doesn't seem to really be needing their help - until the real reason he wanted them to be there is finally revealed.

The firm is assigned a seemingly impossible case of a serial killer who eats his victims. The trial becomes more and more unsettling for Lindsay in particular, when the client, who believes he is Hannibal Lecter, starts referring to her as Clarice.

Eugene defends a man accused of rape, who claims the real rapist is his identical twin brother. Meanwhile, Lawrence O'Malley, the Hannibal Lecter copycat, continues to terrorize Lindsay, until she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Having shot Lawrence O'Malley, Lindsay goes into shock, and Eugene orders Bobby and her not to talk to the police about what happened. Trying to decide on the best legal defense for Lindsay, Eugene and the others begin to question her sanity.

Ellinor leads the defense team in Lindsay's murder trial of Lawrence O'Malley, against A.D.A. Kenneth Walsh, who is determined to convict Lindsay and get rid of her once and for all. As the trial progresses, Lindsay continues to unravel, and her testimony leaves everyone skeptical as to the outcome of the trial.
