The Pilot introduces the six 'fake' friends; four men and two women who each live in a different area of L.A. and meet regularly at Sherman's house.

Sherman gets angry at Felix, increasingly talking, behaving and even breathing like he's an L.A. pretender. After a brief discussion with Felix about the fakeness of L.A., Sherman becomes angry with Beverly, the pretender he's come to hate more and more as days go by. He hates her attitude and what she stands for. He's even gripped by the urge to kill her, before Fernando's shocked eyes.

Mr. Adams pays a visit to Sherman and Felix to make sure the project is coming along nicely.

While having a few drinks with the pretenders, Sherman hopes that getting drunk will make them more standable and truthful.

While having a mini-get-together at Sherman's, the pretenders play a movie quote trivia contest - "what do you mean I'm funny" - and then discuss the stupid rules to follow when dating in L.A.

Sherman wants out the L.A. Pretenders project; Fernando finally has sex with Holly but... there's a But; Felix is a bad acting teacher; Holly is a desperate actress; Mr. Adams is on the edge of a nervous breakdown... Maybe this is a bad time to pretend like everything's always great and perfect!
