Maggie finds herself in a moral dilemma, when she stumbles across pornographic magazines in her son's bedroom. Matters are made worse when she overhears him talking about watching a "dirty" movie with his school friends. Meanwhile, a Fagin-like criminal is employing young girls to shoplift for him.

When a series of rapes on women plague the area, Maggie Forbes must go undercover as a barmaid to try catch the attacker - but acting as a decoy places her life in great danger.

A burglary at the office of a solicitor who prosecutes for the police leads to a crisis situation between Maggie and one of her superiors, when the detective uncovers some incriminating evidence.

Ivor Stocker, JP and successful businessman, is being blackmailed. Maggie, assigned to investigate the blackmail threats, uncovers a can of worms in the offices of a 'respectable' law company.

When a series of robberies with violence - all bearing a similar pattern, and all carried out by woman - break out on Maggie's patch, the detective must decide whether the crimes were committed by a team, or one woman in several disguises.

Having spent several frustrating hours at the law courts, Maggie is anxious to get back to the paper work piling up on her desk. But even paperwork has its drawbacks - particularly when a clue to a major crime lies hidden among its sheets.
