Gustav has been rationalized away from Posten, Lena has quit the bank and works as a municipal politician. n addition, so has their daughter Lina moved home from London with her new boyfriend John.

Lena is faced with the choice of whether the municipality should build a sports or art hall in Vivalla. When Lena chooses the art gallery, Gustav and Pettersson begin to demonstrate.

Gustav accompanies Lina to her workplace at the veterinary clinic, and illegally takes a cat home with him. Max introduces his girlfriend Ebba to the rest of the family, a meeting everyone in the Svensson family will soon forget.

Gustav becomes firmly involved in the third world. Ment Well but much too complicated. He is simultaneously trying to help Max move to his new apartment. Even this gets very complicated.

Football legend Morgan Parmell comes to Vivalla to inaugurate the art gallery. Gustav sees to it that he gets to live in their house, which makes Lena angry. John's birthday is celebrated properly.

John's parents come to Vivalla when their son is to conduct a concert. They get to meet Gustav and Lena for the first time. On the same evening as the concert, there is bandy in the new sports hall.

Lena replaces people in her municipal government, whereupon the new culture manager fires John. Gustav makes sure to pick up his abandoned theater career.

When Vivalla celebrates its centenary, Gustav wants to help Greta win an important ball game. Lena tries to figure out who should be depicted in Vivalla's new statue.

The Svensson family has SEK 80,000 in their savings account. That in and of itself is good. But Lena has one will, Gustav has another. And Gustav has a surprise and gets a surprise.

In a twinning project between Vivalla and an Italian city, its mayor comes to visit Vivalla, which Gustav does not appreciate.

Lina's animal rights organization enlists the help of a former tennis player as opening speaker for a demonstration. Gustav sees his chance to change things in the Svensson family's life.

John and Gustav have interest weeks. John is forced to watch hockey and Gustav is forced to attend one of John's concerts. At the same time, Lena faces competition for the post of chairman.

Gustav turns 55 and both receives and gives surprises for the family, but also for the Swedish Post Office.
