Mikhail turns to the police, reporting his wife's disappearance and finding a pool of blood at home. The only clue is a piece of mask, which could have been the likely culprit. The man suspects the former spouse of his beloved, a terrible jealous man. Max and the Dog go to his house, and there the Dog finds a pig mask. But the suspect cannot be detained - he escapes, and the next morning is thrown out of the window of a rented apartment.

In an expensive restaurant, a guest orders a portion of spaghetti, but when he sees the dish, he makes a scandal with shouts that they have brought him live snakes. In front of everyone, a man jumps up from the table, grabs a knife and stabs himself. After the incident, Gnezdilov directly declares: it was suicide, and they have nothing to do here. But Max is in no hurry with conclusions, especially after watching the recordings from the cameras.

Boris Fuksis, a well-known antiques dealer, was killed at his home. Max finds the killers, but they, in turn, are eliminated by a killer hired by someone. A second before his death, one of the criminals says to Max a cryptic phrase: "Damn concert".

A professional fortune-teller gathered relatives for a session to summon the ghost of their ancestor and share the inheritance. The "Otherworldly Voice" announced that anyone who touches the family heirloom - an ancient amulet - will die. The notary present at the session grabbed the amulet with a grin and fell unconscious. Fortune-teller snatched the object out of his hands and died immediately. When, touching the amulet, Gnezdilov fainted, everyone in the investigation team refused to take the evidence. Everyone except Max.

On the street, Max notices how several unknown assailants are attacking a woman in a car, and enters into a shootout with them. In the skirmish, one criminal is killed and another is wounded in the leg. But the rest of the robbers manage to escape, taking an expensive necklace. Interestingly, this is not the first case of attacks on the roads, when expensive jewelry is taken from the victims. There is a version that the gang is working on a tip. From the informant, Max learns that the brother of the wounded bandit works in the morgue, and goes to talk to him.

A surprise dish was served to a restaurant visitor who was having dinner with his wife. The man was kindly offered to taste the steak with blood, but there was a pistol on the plate, which the waiter immediately took and directed towards the guest. A shot rang out, a commotion began, and the killer took out an ax, chopped off the victim's finger and calmly left the institution.

Businessman Basov dies in his own car due to a charge from a device mounted in the car's interior. Volunteer assistance to detectives is offered by the victim's colleague, Elena's classmate Andrei Ignatov. But Alexei and Max quickly escort the boyfriend out of the past, citing the secret of the investigation. The suspect is Basov's competitor in the transport business. During interrogation, he confesses that Basov really interfered with him, but he would not have killed such an "authoritative" person. In fact, it turned out that the deceased was engaged in the sale of...

Two business partners die one after another - businessmen Ilya Ilf and Dmitry Petrov. Near their corpses, they find badges with the image of a rat - a symbol of betrayal. Thanks to Maksimov's connections, it is possible to establish the real names of the victims. They made their passports with false names from the well-known specialist in forgeries Rabinovich. Having established the fact of the substitution of documents, Maksimov, with the help of Gnezdilov, goes on the trail of the friend of the merchants - the pimp Ashot.

The ancient artifact "Yaroslav's Staff" disappears from the museum. Max, working out the versions, as usual uses not quite ordinary methods, which causes strong condemnation from Elena and Leonidov. Gnezdilov is trying to prove that he can fight no worse than Max, and the Dog behaves like a child and constantly demands to be played with.

Two illegal businessmen who were transporting counterfeit shoes were shot dead. True, the reasons for the murder have nothing to do with their activities. Each of the operatives is working out his own version. Nostalgic Gnezdilov is sure that the 90s are back. Maksimov and the Dog discover a piece of a bumper from a white van. He leads them on the trail of the ambulance brigade, which has long and successfully engaged in the distribution of drugs under the guise of visits to permanent patients.

The department has a new order: all employees must work with partners. Leonidov has to work with Gnezdilov, and Max shares his experience with an intern. Together they are investigating the kidnapping of Karina, the daughter of a local businessman. Gnezdilov attaches a bug to the Dog's collar and hears all Maksimov's conversations. Thanks to this, he is ahead of him in the investigation. The trainee discovers the bug, and Max directs Gnezdilov and his partner on the wrong track.

At night, a man falls from the balcony of an old house onto a parked car, shards of glass and money are flying everywhere. By morning, the police cannot find a body or a sign of a fall. Residents unanimously insist that their house is cursed, and Gnezdilov is actively developing a version with otherworldly interference. Max joins in the investigation of a mysterious crime, despite feeling unwell. Elena and Leonidov suspect that Max started drinking again.

A jewelry store was robbed. Store employees claim that the attacker came with a shepherd dog and looked remarkably similar to Max. The cameras of the store confirm this. After another robbery, Dog's hair is found at the crime scene. Gnezdilov plans to send Max to jail at any cost.

Monica, the writer of the popular crime series, wants to see the inside of the police. The chief sends her to the best detective in the department - Max. But Gnezdilov disagrees with this decision. He begins to show an increased interest in the screenwriter, in contrast to Max, who is trying in every possible way to get rid of her annoying participation in the next case. During the investigation, the girl puts forward her version and soon hurts Max's pride.

In the laboratory of Professor Kovalchuk, a man in a gas mask appears and breaks a flask with a solution brought in. The room is clouded with black smoke, the professor cannot get out - the door is locked from the outside. The offender, having convinced himself of the death of the scientist, leaves the laboratory through the window. It turns out that Kovalchuk was developing a drug to increase libido and potency. At first, the investigation goes on the wrong path, suspecting the buyer of the developments.

Irina Fomina was kidnapped right from the restaurant during lunch. Her husband, a businessman, cannot explain the reason what happened. It turns out that recently a certain Grigory Antipov was released from prison, and Fomina was a witness in his case. Maksimov and the Dog are trying to detain Antipov. The investigation is actively interfered with by Gnezdilov, who was appointed acting head of the department. Maksimov and his colleagues calculate: the merchant has a mistress, and she could benefit from the disappearance of a rival.

In the city there is a daring attack on collectors, one of them is dead. Contrary to instructions, the men stopped and got out of the car. While Alexei and Max are examining the crime scene, Gnezdilov goes around the corner and finds a toolbox in the trash can. Probably, the attackers intended to open the safe with them. But Max does not trust his colleague's sudden insight and, with the faithful Dog, begins his own investigation.

A security guard in the office center, during a night tour, discovers the corpse of a lawyer and a girl hanging over the body. The stranger says that she was sent from the future to prevent this crime, but she did not have time, and then she dictates a strange code "2333" and disappears. Gnezdilov, impressed by the mystical incident, begins to hear different voices in his head.

In the apartment of elderly collectors of antiques, two corpses of robbers were found who did not have time to take out the stolen goods. To the surprise of the owners, something in the collection still disappeared - a figurine with the image of a monkey. Maksimov quickly finds and detains the antiquarian Boris, who sold the statuette to pensioners under the guise of an expensive artifact. Boris's lawyer tells Max that the dishonest antiquarian had two more figurines that were sold to other connoisseurs. Soon the first buyer of the monkey dies, and Maksimov and Boris ...

A burning car drives into the bar where Max stopped by for coffee. At the wheel - a corpse without a head. It turns out that the owner of the car is businessman Gennady Goretsky. His wife claims that the headless horseman is a certain Arthur Adabashyan. At Goretsky's house, operatives find the insensitive body of the swindler Felix Kotov. The man had abrasions from blows on his hands, a bloody ax in his hands, and his clothes smelled of gasoline. All the evidence is against him, but Goretskaya asks Max to prove Kotov's innocence.
