Addie wants to stay put in one place and persuades Moze to buy a house. But to get it Moze needs to conduct a scam that will get them $1,000 and allow them to settle down.

Addie pretends to be the lost granddaughter of a elderly eccentric. When Moze enters the picture to grift some money from the old man the two find they may have met their match.

After Moses brags about his skills as a boxer Addie enters him into a fight with a brute of a man. Without a way to back out Moses tries to develop some pugilistic ability.

For Addie's 10th birthday, Moze pulls out all the stops for her to speak by phone with President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Moze and Addie join up with two sister who run their own tent revivals. But Moze hasn't found religion instead it's the collection plates full of cash that has his full attention.

Moses is is unwillingly talked into working as an advance man for a harvesting crew. Told to tell tne farmers that tomorrow is the start date Moses soon fins himself with some angry customers.

Notorious bandits Bonnie and Clyde need an advance man and they contact Moze to do the job. Addie thinks it is a terrible idea and does everything in her power to steer Moze away from helping the outlaws.

Moses and Addie attend the funeral of Harry, the man who taughts Moses all of his confidence games. Problem is his "death" was another scam and Harry has one more big score planned.

Moses and Addie arrive in Ophelia, Addie's birthplace and she has a plan. She is determined to learn the identity of her father, asking anyone who might know something and refuses to leave town until she gets answers.

Moses happens onto a bonanza when the he presents a bible to the widow of a bootlegger. She pays the grifter in gold certificates and Moses tries to increase his good fortune.
