Angela and her older sister Elizabeth are ecstatic to be out of the house and playing in the woods. They don't want to heed the warning of their overprotective father, Dan, that everything isn't as safe as it seems.

Professor Scott Jackson hosts his weekly show The Universe in a nearly empty studio with a mysterious stranger looking on.

Angela Summer, now grown up, visits her dissertation adviser, Jenny Randall, hoping to quit the Philosophy program and move on with her life. But Jenny has other plans.

Angela confronts her father, Dan, about her missing sister, Elizabeth, and finds out that he has been up to far more than he's been letting on.

The lights come on in the television studio where Dr. Scott Jackson has been recording the latest episode of The Universe and the mysterious director is revealed.

Angela stumbles upon a woman dancing in a mysterious garden.

Angela finds herself in a bind in a strange place with no one to turn to for help. Then a familiar face appears in the woods.

Elizabeth reads a story that incites Angela to dream about her own powerful future, but not everyone agrees that the sisters should choose their own destinies.
