In the London of the 1930s when Indian student Azam's beloved Jane misses her appointment, he moves with fellow student Rao to attend a party. The host Naim gets floored by an unexpected guest, Rao's beautiful Bristish friend Sheila.

Two other Indian students, snob Arif and self proclaimed embodiment of Indian culture Karima Begum together reach Naim's rented flat while Azam and Rao go to a bar on their way. A Britisher Tom joins them on their table.

Tom respects India while Sheila has fascination for Indians. In contrast, Arif looks down upon his countrymen and Karima nurtures conservative perception on Indian culture. Arif and Rao leave bar after being insulted by a drunk native.

Ehsan opines that Karima's conservative views go against women's liberties. He admonishes some guests for their capitalist bent of mind. Azam is annoyed at late arrival of Jane but melts soon. Arif stays aloof in the party.

Sheila narrates to Naim how she met in Switzerland an Indian young man Hiren Paul and they fell in love despite the fact that he was a nationalist revolutionary and she belongs to the country that has colonized his country.

Sheila tells Naim that her lover returned to India and he is no more replying her letters. She doesn't know whether he is still alive or has already sacrificed his life for the nation. But her love is immortal.
