The anime series is based on Katrua Saiki’s manga of the same name, which is a spinoff and prequel to the popular manga by Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura, Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler. The franchise also inspired a live-action adaptation that first aired on Amazon Prime in Japan in 2021.
