Corporate-speak and euphemisms aside, the health-care system is under attack from for-profit and greedy businesses who are slick, jazzy and even have publicists and men in suits giving interviews and making covers of magazines. The hospital next door, in the meantime, has none of these things and is only focused on its patients. However, most patients have abandoned it.

Sakurai hospital has assembled the majority of team Dragon and is focused on patients and patients alone. However, the young patient may not last long enough to see the research to come to fruition and needs to be operated on. The hospital does not have the necessarily equipment, but L&P does. This gives an opening to that hospital's management to make a grab for the talent it covets.

A little girl is dying and there is no solution to her condition. The surgical team again arrives at an impasse despite an emergency surgery being set to proceed. The young patient's mother is beyond herself and desperation is setting in until doctor Sakurai come sup with a last-minute alternative. Still, time is of the essence and chance of success low.

The sneaky management consultant is setting traps to lure more experts from Sakurai Hospital. A foreigner in Japan cannot afford his treatments. In contrast a wealthy Arab minister receives the VIP treatment across town. Ijuyin is not paying enough attention to his fiancee. Doctor Sakurai seems more frail than usual.

The rivalry-cum-cooperation between the L&P and Sakurai hospitals continues. There is a surgery panned for a seven-year-old boy, which L&Ps director decides to personally undertake. The members of team dragon disagree and a conflict ensues. The mother of the young patient decides to take the L&P advice and allow the director to operate and not accept Asada's counsel. Something stinks. Te management consultant persists in his schemes.

Doctor Sakurai is admitted to L&P for tests. The management consultant is executing his dastardly plot. Pieces of the puzzle are falling in place and the medical staff is being played like pawns on a chess board. Noguchi orchestrates a surprise audit of the hospital. The hospital gets accused of embezzlement. A woman refuses to be examined and complains.

There is an important patient at the hospital. Ijuyin has convinced his future father-in-law to stay at the hospital instead of a hospice. He believes he has stage four terminal cancer, but hitting on a story and a chance observation of a scar mean that there are other possibilities. One more pawn is about to fall into the L&P trap.

Doctor Sakurai cannot find a suitable neurosurgeon in Japan and Kato is sourcing one from the USA. The young resident at Sakurai Hospital is not getting along with the patients whom he terms "low-class" and the patients prefer Asada. This makes the young man even angrier. The plot by the corporate consultant to destroy Sakurai and its mission continues.

Even Doctor Asada is not immune to the promises and threats of Noguchi and L&P Hospital. Noguchi fires his consultant and strikes hard to deprive Sakurai hospital of the last remaining member of Team Dragon. All this is for the operation of Sakurai who is going to receive an extraordinary simultaneous heart and brain surgery. An American whiz surgeon is arriving from the USA and he works for five million yen.

Doctor Sakurai cannot wait for the American surgeon to arrive. he has collapsed on the floor and does not have long to live. he is discovered by the head nurse and transferred to the L&P Hospital for a simultaneous heart and brain surgery. Noguchi is not pleased especially when he finds out that his former consultant whom he fired Okomura is a neurosurgeon who wants to pick up the scalpel again. Except Okomura is not licensed any longer.
