Ten years after separating from his wife and children, Norbert's estranged son Matthijs turns up on his doorstep.

Norbert is called to meet with Matthijs' teacher to discuss his son's bad behavior at school. But father Hogendijk turns out to have some skeletons in his school locker himself.

Matthijs brings home a pregnant punk girl and claims to be the father of her child.

Norbert thinks Matthijs should be more like clean cut neighbor Jan-Willem, especially when the police come round with accusations of theft and drugs.

Norbert is dating a much younger woman he met at work. Naturally Matthijs and Suus want to find out all about her.

Norbert finds that he is losing small change around the house, so he tells Matthijs to get a job.

Matthijs has become a vegetarian, joined a animal rights group and begins to brings home liberated lab animals.

Matthijs reminds Normert that it's his wedding anniversary. He has also invited his mother Tilly without his fathers consent, supposedly to get some of her old stuff back.

Norbert is in the running for a promotion. To make him even more nervous, Matthijs has taken a job as an intern at his father's firm.
