Politician Tim Snel makes a controversial transfer to the VPN. Faction leader Marise Collee supports a government proposal for the evacuation of northern Groningen in exchange for free childcare. But the exchange entails consequences.

Tim is preparing for a debate with the Minister of Finance on the privatization of ABN AMRO, a state-owned bank since the crisis. He is very enthusiastic about economist Thomas Piketty's tax plans, but party leader Jan has other ideas on the subject.

Tim is assigned to investigate if the VPN finances are clean. Corine has to prepare a debate on health care but the press and her fellow party members are more interested in the finances.

Tim learns from his mother, who works at the Inspectorate of Education, that there are fraud issues with the CITO-tests at certain schools. When he tells this to his colleague Michaël in confidence, he makes it public, which leads to several complications.

Leaked espionage footage from the AIVD leads to a debate on privacy and the power of the AIVD. The VPN party tries to form an opinion on the subject and uncover espionage in their own ranks. Meanwhile, Tim and Dara continue their financial investigation of the party.

Marise organizes a faction weekend in a vacation retreat in order to restore the unity in the faction.

The VPN party joins in the debate concerning the increasing number of refugees by giving out of the box suggestions. In an interview Tim ironically mentions refugees could be given accommodation on Bonaire, which blows out of proportion.

In an effort to decriminalize the Dutch marijuana industry Tim and the VPN party take a surprising stand, while Marise is losing ground in her party.

The campaign for the upcoming elections begins. Marise wants to support a foreign military mission to the Central African Republic, but fails in the debate. Meanwhile, Tim discovers more about Jan's history.

In the heat of the campaign Tim confronts both Marise and Jan with his findings.
