Wolfgang H. Scholz was born on Oct 05, 1958 in German Democratic Republic. Wolfgang H. Scholz's big-screen debut came with Krähenzeit directed by Wolfgang H. Scholz in 2014.

Wolfgang H Scholz was born in Dresden (Germany) 1958 where he studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden (HfBK). He made his first short film in 1986. When he moved in 1989 to Munich, he was given a position to teach at the College for Filmmaking and TV (HFF). From that time on he increased and strengthened his work as filmmaker and has directed a great number of films both for the cinema and TV. These films are Documentaries, Portraits and TV-Films in different formats and since 1994 feature films. A selection of his filmography includes: 1989 Documentary "Kohlenlothar" (awarded first prize, Film Festival Dresden 1990); 1994 Mixed Documentary and Feature Film "Schattensucher" (Shadow Seeker); 1997 Documentary "A Munich Cinema Legend"; 1999 Theatrical Feature Film "Lost Wings" (Silver Award, Film Festival Houston 2000); 2009 Documentary "The Image Inside" and 2014 theatrical feature film "Time of Crows".The fact that the central concept of his work is the image as such, dependant on rhythm and speed, led WH Scholz to create experimental stage pieces (as well as experimental films), in which filmed images, actors, dancers, sound and stage-installations interact. A selection of his pieces includes: 1994 "Balance"; 2001 "Landscapes of Love"; 2002 "Cicles"; 2005 "Ser Viviente", 2013 "The Inner Labyrinth" and "Melancholy - Part 1". His pieces have been successfully performed in Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, USA, Peru, Mexico and Germany. His present production in the visual arts is a series of red paintings, as well as conceptually influenced photo and video installations on the theme "Faces, Numbers, Codes, Surfaces". It is a search for identification forms, norms in art that stretch through all the areas of his artistic work. Central theme in his multimedia art is the concept of time, in which there is a basic questioning of reality and of the thought processes, as well as of the art-symbols that go along with it in the subconscious mind. A selection of his last exhibitions includes: 2005 Museum Chopo, Mexico City, 2009 Museum Arzobispado, Mexico City, 2010 Gallery UAM, Mexico City, 2011 Gallery JMV, Mexico City, 2012 Museum Regional Guadalaja, Mexico, 2013 Gallery Casona, Córdoba, Argentina and 2014 Goethe Institut Mexico City. In 2013 he was appointed at the Saxon Academy of Arts. He lives and works as an freelance painter, film director and photographer in Mexico City and Munich.
