Hurst made his feature debut in Shifting Gears, alongside M.C. Gainey (Django Unchained) and M. Emmet Walsh (The Jerk). Next, he shared the screen with Shawn Pyfrom (Desperate Housewives) in Hard Surfaces. Hurst then stepped up to 'leading man' in three feature films. Small Group, nominated in 4 categories at the International Christian Film Festival - including a Best Lead Actor nomination for Hurst - won Best Picture.
