Is a graduate of The Stella Adler Studio's 3 year Theater Conservatory in New York. Inspired by her father Marcel Sisniega, independent film director, writer and international chess grand master, Sofia has acted in over 17 full length films, 16 theater plays and 10 television series. Sofia has both American and Mexican citizenships. Since she was raised between Mexico and the US English and Spanish are both her native languages. She's from Spanish, French, Italian, Irish, Russian, Icelandic, Mexican, Arab and American-Indian descent. Film: She starred in her first movie at age 15 "Mujeres en el Acto", followed by "Arresto Domiciliario", both directed by Gabriel Retes. After graduating, she continued her work in Mexico with "Bacalar" directed by Patricia Arriaga and produced by Walt Disney Studios. She participated in "Get the Gringo" with Mel Gibson, "El Gringo" filmed in Bulgaria, starring Christian Slater, "Treading Water" with Carrie Ann Moss and Zoe Kravitz, "Sundown" with Teri Hatcher, "La Vida Inmoral de la Pareja Ideal" by Manolo Caro, "Qué Culpa Tiene el Niño" by Gustavo Loza, among others. She also starred in "Ladronas de Almas" by Juan Antonio de la Riva and in the highly acclaimed Sci-Fi short film "Sundays" by Dutch director Mischa Rozema. Sofia recently finished shooting two movies in which she also stars: "Hermanos Marquez Castillo" a comedy set in the 1940s directed by Fer Rovzar and Mark Alazraki and "Compulsion" directed by Batan Silva, a psychological thriller where she plays an American Neuroscientist.TV: Regarding TV, she was a series regular in "Los Minondo" a historic TV series for Canal Once and played the recurring role of Luna in HBO's "Sr. Avila". Sofia had the lead role in "Bienvenida Realidad" produced by Sony International Television and portrayed "Serena" in the Spanish version of "Gossip Girl" produced by Warner Brothers International Television. In Gary Alazraki's "Club de Cuervos/Club of Crows" seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Netflix's first original series in Spanish), Sofia plays Paty Villa, the lead's love interest. She also starred in the series "Entre Correr y Vivir" and "Sincronía" and did a special recurring role in "Las 13 Esposas de Wilson". Sofia plays a recurring role in the first season of the Netflix Original phenomenon "La Casa de las Flores/House of Flowers" created and directed by Manolo Caro. After winning Best Series and Best Acting Ensemble for the first season of "Aquí en la Tierra/Here On Earth" (Premios Fenix, Zurich International Film Festival, Canneseries 2018 Official Selection), Sofia completed the second season. In this FOX series produced and directed by Gael Garcia Bernal she plays opposite him. The series is also directed by Everardo Gout, Adrian Grunberg, Mariana Chenillo, Alonso Ruiz Palacios, Humberto Hinojosa and Gabriel Ripstein.Theater: Theater has always been a part of Sofia's life. In New York and in Mexico she has performed in plays by Shakespeare, Eugene O'Neill, Anton Chekhov, García Lorca, Strindberg, Tennessee Williams, Sophocles, Oscar Wilde, Harold Pinter among others. During 2017, she did a long run of the classical play in verse "Don Juan" by Zorrilla at the Helénico, one of the most important and respected theaters in Mexico. This successful production was inspired by Fellini's movies and she played the lead role of Doña Ines. Sofia was also Viola in Shakespeare's "Noche de Reyes/Twelfth Night" at the famous Foro Shakespeare in Mexico City, wining awards for the best production in Mexico.
