Scotty Newlands is a Singer/Songwriter & Actor from Toronto, ON. Canada. He has been a featured anthemnist for many professional sports teams and has released multiple original albums both as an independent artist as well as through major label distribution.Scotty's extensive tenor and counter tenor vocal range puts him is a class aside from most male singers. From his early days in school choirs, and University ensembles where he honed his vocal and theatrical skills, to present day where stage and studio are the primary focus, Scotty excels in all aspects of his performance attributes.Scotty is frequently asked to sing the national anthem because of the power, conviction and authenticity in which he performs it. He has been requested to perform personally by various major league sporting associations, including all of the teams under the Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment franchise, the Toronto Argonauts, Toronto Blue Jays, the Steelback Grand Prix, Honda Grand Prix, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He was personally requested by the NHL to perform at the 2009 Winter Classic in Chicago, Illinois, by the MLB to sing at the 2013 All Stars Game in Queen's, New York and he performed at the Princess Margaret Hospital's Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer celebrity tournament in Sep 2013 and at the CMA 2013 Convocation in Oct 2013. In late 2012, Scotty signed a contract with the Toronto Rock NLL Lacrosse Team to become their official home game anthem singer for the 2013 season - a position he holds to date.In addition to performing music, Scotty Newlands has spent most of his life performing on the stage as well. Joining a theatre company at the age of 13, Scotty was exposed to all forms of theatre and did some of his first solo performances as a singer while he playing different characters on stage.During this time, Scotty learned the finer points of stage performance, vocal projection and facial and physical expression. He studied Theatre at University - majoring in Theatre Studies and taking courses in Non-European Theatre. It was here that Scotty learned about the influences of Japanese Kabuki, Noh, Indian and Chinese Opera performance. He also was taught about the various "mudras" and corresponding facial expressions - which he utilized in his in-depth study of Kabuki.After graduating from University, Scotty spread his ambitions towards film and television.Today, Scotty continues to perform on stage in musical theatre, on screen - both television and film and is also exploring commercial voice-over work while he continues to fulfill the goals and demands of his music career.Scotty performs at a variety of events - both corporate and private functions and often lends his talents to a variety of charity organizations, including: Wheelchair Hockey, The United Way, Veteran's Associations, Cancer research benefits, social groups and various community organizations.
