Sasha Cohen was born on October 26 1984 in Los Angeles, California as Alexandra Pauline Cohen. Her mother Galina's a Jewish immigrant from Ukraine & a former ballerina. Her father Roger's a Jewish American business consultant who used to practice law. She was named after her mother's favorite ballerina & goes by Sasha, the Ukrainian nickname for Alexandra. She began skating at 7. By 15, she had won the silver at the U.S. nationals. She competed at the 2002 Olympics, placing 4th. She also placed 4th at the 2002 & 2003 worlds. She won her first medal, a silver, at the 2004 worlds. She won silver at the 2006 Olympics. She starred in the 2007 feature film, Moondance Alexander (2007), along w/ Don Johnson, Lori Loughlin, Kay Panabaker, James Best & Whitney Sloan.
