As an actor Ruben has received a Tony Award, two OBIE Awards, and a Helen Hayes Award. He most recently performed in August Wilson's solo show How I Learned What I Learned. Ruben served as co-artistic director along with Stephen McKinley Henderson to record August Wilson's American Century Cycle comprised of the entire canon of his plays. Ruben holds an MFA from Wayne State University, a BA from Binghamton University, and Honorary Doctorate Degree's from both Wayne State University and Buffalo State College.
