Roberta was born in Lima, Peru to a father of Italian-Peruvian descent and a mother of Indigenous, Spanish, & Afro-Peruvian descent. When people ask Roberta, "What are you?" - and yes, they really do ask her that - the answer is always "I'm Peruvian." The youngest of four sisters, Roberta and her family immigrated to Miami, Florida when she was five years old. After suffering some economic setbacks over the following decade, the family was forced to retreat back to Peru when Roberta was sixteen. She finished high school in her native Lima, and returned to the US to attend Carnegie Mellon University where she earned a BFA in Acting. American dream still in tact, Roberta has been acting and writing in Los Angeles ever since.
