Richard Clabaugh is a filmmaker and film teacher known primarily for his work as a cinematographer and director of low budget action and horror films. He began his career doing TV news and visual effects work before establishing himself as a genre cinematographer on action and horror films such as The Prophecy (1995) with Christopher Walken, No Way Back ((1995) with Russell Crow, American Yakuza (1993) with Viggo Mortensen and Phantoms (1998) with Ben Affleck. He moved to feature directing with Python (2000) before taking a teaching position at the UNC School of the Arts. He taught for almost ten years before leaving to resume a full time career in motion pictures and television. He established his own production company and co-wrote, produced and directed the SciFi film Eyeborgs (2009). He continues to teach, doing lectures and online tutorials, and he continues to produce and direct movies and TV shows. His wife Fran Clabaugh is an editor and frequent collaborator.
