Piero Sbragia

Piero Sbragia was born on Jun 16, 1982 in Brazil. Piero Sbragia's big-screen debut came with Descobrir: Os Criadores de Saci directed by Piero Sbragia in 2014.

Piero Sbragia is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is the author of "Novas Fronteiras do Documentário: Entre a Factualidade e a Ficcionalidade" (2020), published by Chiado Books. He holds a master's degree in Education, Art and History of Culture from Universidade Mackenzie and a degree in Social Communication, with a degree in Journalism, from the same university. He specialized in Documentary Cinema at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-SP). He is currently artistic director of the production company Segundas Estórias Filmes. In his career, he worked at the three largest television stations in Brazil: Rede Globo, Rede Record, and SBT. He also collaborated in audiovisual projects for Hospital das Clínicas, TV Cultura, Canal Rural, WorldSkills, TV Justiça and XP Educação. He was artistic director at eduK, an online teaching platform that offers free courses. He has been a university professor since 2013, with classes taught at Universidade Mackenzie, at the School of Communication at FIAM-FAAM Centro Universitário, at FATEC-SP and at the University of Santo Amaro. He wrote and directed the documentary "Descobrir: Os Criadores de Saci" (2014), selected for the 13ª Mostra de Cinema de Infantil de Florianópolis, for the Festival de Cinema Infanto Juvenil de Porto Alegre and featured in the 15ª edição do Festival Nacional do Saci em Botucatu (SP) 2015. He was a finalist for the 2018 Music Professionals Award in the category "Best Music Video Director". He directed "Em Refúgio, um documentário sobre possibilidades" (2018), a project done in partnership with the UN and shown at the 1st International Meeting on Migration and Refuge. He directed "Uma Bala" (2018), a film selected for the 29º Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens de São Paulo and for the 12ª Mostra de Cinema e Direitos Humanos. [May 11th 2021]
