He is best known for his first movie Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush (2015) which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director. The film starred Subodh Bhave, Chinmay Mandlekar & Priya Bapat in the key roles. Om Raut earlier produced Haunted - 3D (2011) and City of Gold - Mumbai 1982: Ek Ankahee Kahani (2010). Om is working on a magnum opus period-action film titled "Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior". The film will have superstar Ajay Devgn portraying the role of legendary warrior Taanaji Malusare, who was Chhatrapati Shivaji's closest friend, confidant and a Subedar in the Maratha army. The first look poster of the film was released on 20th July 2017. The film is slated to release on 2019.
